Capsule Geology

The Hautete occurrence is located northeast of Hautete Lake and approximately 7.8 kilometres southwest of the mouth of Macdougall Creek on Takla Lake.

Along the eastern edge of the Hautete property rhyolitic flows and tuffs likely belonging to the Jurassic Hazelton Group are exposed in a series of highlands. Granodioritic to granitic stocks encountered in this area may represent feeders to the rhyolites.

Copper mineralization is restricted to small showings associated with weakly deformed zones in the Late Cretaceous diorites of the Babine Plutonic Suite. Here it consists of weakly disseminated chalcopyrite and minor malachite occasionally associated with quartz veinlets.

In 1993, a rock sample (KS-LH 101) of subangular float comprising propylitic-altered biotite feldspar porphyry with pyrite, chalcopyrite and malachite from the Haut 6 claim assayed 1.13 per cent copper, 37.5 grams per tonne silver and 5.30 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 23349).

In 1995, a subangular float sample (LH-94-388) of altered felsic (quartz monzonite?) rock with tourmaline-filled fractures and chalcopyrite, bornite, malachite and azurite mineralization assayed greater than 1.0 per cent copper and 2.4 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 24107).

Work History

In the early 1970s the area was explored as the Camp Bravo claims.

The Hautete property was owned by Larry Hewitt from 1993 to 1995 when prospecting and rock sampling occurred. In 1996 on the Hautete property, Cominco Ltd completed a total of 33.2 line kilometres of I.P./Resistivity and 41.7 kilometres of magnetic survey was completed.

Also in 1995, Teck Corporation conducted a large airborne magnetic and scintillometer survey totaling 4200 line-kilometres that covered many prospects in the region including the Hautete occurrence.

In 2011, a 2845 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey was carried out by Astorius Resources Ltd over ground that encompassed the Hautete near its northern extremity. The magnetic pattern could be used to map the underlying stratigraphy with the sedimentary rocks exhibiting a smooth low magnetic response, the volcanics have a higher response with high frequency chop, and the intrusives have a higher, but smoother signature in a limited size.

In 2013, Astorius Resources Ltd. completed a 16.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the Hautete occurrence area as part of the Babine property.

In 2017, Amarc Resources Ltd. completed a 392.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Win 15 claim of the Duke property.

In 2019, Amarc Resources Ltd. completed a program of historical geological, geochemical and geophysical data compilation and collation on the Duke property.
